Piccadilly Circus Art Print, LONDON
Art print from the London Series. Piccadilly Circus
This intersection is known for its large video screens and neon advertising signs, mounted on the building located on the corner facing north, as well as for the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain and the statue known as Eros (sometimes called The Angel of Christian Charity, and which is actually Anteros).
It is surrounded by many notable buildings, including the London Pavilion and the Criterion Theatre. Beneath the square lies Piccadilly Circus station on the London Underground.
The first electric advertisements at the intersection appeared in 1910, and in 1923 electric billboards were placed on the facade of the London Pavilion.
