The Clock Tower, metonymically known as Big Ben, was built as part of the design for a new palace after the old Palace of Westminster was destroyed by fire. It is designed in the Gothic Revival style and stands 96.3 meters tall.
The London Eye is a 135-meter-tall observation wheel located above the western end of Jubilee Gardens. Its rim is supported by tensioned steel cables and resembles a giant bicycle wheel. The wheel was constructed in sections that floated down the Thames on barges and were assembled onto platforms stacked on the river. The London Eye has 32 sealed, climate-controlled passenger cabins, each 8 meters long and 4 meters in diameter.
