Art print from the Spain Series. Las Médulas in El Bierzo
Las Médulas is a Spanish landscape formed by an ancient Roman gold mining operation located in the El Bierzo region, province of León.
It is considered the largest open-pit gold mine in the entire Roman Empire.
The engineering work carried out for the mineral extraction altered the environment but resulted in a landscape of reddish sands, now partially covered with chestnut and oak trees. It is considered a "cultural landscape" and is designated as a "Cultural Park."
In 1997 it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Printed sheet on 320 gsm paper. High-quality embossing. Measures 23 x 23 cm.
