Walled City Print, ÁVILA
Art print from the Spain Series. Walled City of Ávila
Ávila is the most interesting and best-preserved example of what was once a walled city in medieval Spain. Its churches, convents, and monumental buildings, along with its Teresian heritage, make this tightly packed Castilian town one of those peninsular strongholds where Spain's past and a way of life from medieval Europe are most fully expressed.
The wall has a perimeter of 2,516 meters, 2,500 crenellations, 87 towers or turrets, and 9 gates. It covers an area of 33 hectares and forms a rectangle oriented east to west. Its walls are 3 meters thick and 12 meters high.
Materials from the Roman necropolis were reused for its construction.
Printed sheet on 320 gsm paper. High-quality embossing. Measures 23 x 23 cm.
