The Sagrada Familia is a basilica designed by the architect Antoni Gaudí, whose construction began in 1882. It is the architect's masterpiece and the greatest example of Catalan Modernist architecture. It is one of the most visited monuments in Spain and the most visited church in Europe after St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.
During Gaudí's lifetime only the crypt, the apse and, partially, the Nativity façade were completed, of which Gaudí only saw the tower of San Bernabé crowned.
It has three facades dedicated to the Birth, Passion and Glory of Jesus and, when completed, will have 18 towers.
The central tower-dome in honor of Jesus will reach a height of 172.5 meters.
