Art print. Portico of Glory of Santiago de Compostela

The Cathedral of Teruel has its origins in the church of Santa María de Mediavilla, which began to be built in Romanesque style in 1171 and was completed with the erection of the Mudejar tower in 1257. In the second half of the 13th century, the Moorish builder Juzaff , restructures the old Romanesque work and gives the building three Mudejar naves of masonry and brick, which improve and elevate the 12th century Romanesque structure.
In the same Gothic-Mudejar style, already in the 14th century the Romanesque apses were replaced by others, as can be seen in the head of the main chapel. In 1423, with the Mudejar appearance with which, in essence, we know the temple today, the Aragonese pontiff Benedict XIII, the so-called "Pope Luna" elevated it to the rank of Collegiate Church.
