Art print from the Spain Series. Landscape of the Risco Caído in Gran Canaria

The site consists of 21 caves excavated in the volcanic rock of the cliff of the ravine. These caves had residential and agricultural-livestock use for at least 600 years.
In addition to the uses mentioned, the cave known as C6 is supposed to have been an almogarén or meeting place for the Canarii priests. The cave has the particularity of its vaulted structure and having an artificial hole that, when it receives the light of dawn, produces a peculiar optical effect on the images printed on the wall of the cave. The drawings of triangles, possibly representations of pubes, suggest that it is a temple dedicated to fertility. It is also considered that it was used as an astronomical observatory by the aborigines.
