Art print. Basilica of El Salvador in Úbeda
Commissioned in 1536, it was part of an extensive artistic program, which included his Palace, a University and a Hospital, intended to enhance the fame, fortune and glory that the personal secretary of Charles V had achieved; for which he used top-level artists.
The project was undertaken by Andrés de Vandelvira from 1540. The temple was consecrated in 1559. Its first chaplain was Dean Ortega, for whom the large palace to the left of the main facade of the chapel was built.
