The Crystal Palace in El Retiro Park is one of the finest examples of iron architecture in Madrid. It is a metal and glass structure located in El Retiro Park and was built in 1887 for the Philippine Islands Exposition, held that same year.
It was built by Ricardo Velázquez Bosco, and its design was inspired by Paxton's Crystal Palace. It was planned as a gigantic greenhouse to house tropical plants and is now an exhibition hall with displays and installations from the Reina Sofía Museum.
