Views from the Guadalquivir, SEVILLE

€19.00

Art print from the Spain Series. Seville seen from the Guadalquivir River.

From the discovery of America, Seville became the port of entry to Spain from the New World. The Catholic Monarchs founded the House of Trade of the Indies, headquartered in Seville from 1503 to 1717.
From there, voyages were directed and contracted, the riches that entered from America were controlled, and commercial, scientific, and judicial relations with the New World were regulated.
This led to a great urban expansion, with Seville exceeding 100,000 inhabitants, and becoming the largest city in Spain and the best urbanized of the time.

Printed sheet on 32 gsm paper. High-quality embossing. Measures 23 x 23 cm.
