Tower Bridge Art Print, LONDON
Art print from the London Series. Tower Bridge and Shard
It is a bascule bridge 244 m long and 7 m wide, with two 65 m high towers. The 61 m central span between the two towers is divided into two cams, which can be raised to an angle of 83 degrees to allow river traffic to pass. Although each cam weighs over 1,000 tons, they are counterweighted to minimize the energy required to raise them, which takes one minute. The original hydraulic mechanism used pressurized water stored in six accumulators. The water was pumped into the accumulators by steam engines.
THE SHARD
The tower is 306 meters tall and has 73 floors. The building has been designed with an irregular triangular shape from base to top. It is entirely clad in glass.
Printed sheet on 320 gsm paper. High-quality embossing. Measures 23 x 23 cm.
