Eiffel Tower Print, PARIS
Art print from the Paris Series. Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower is a wrought iron structure designed by engineers Maurice Koechlin and Émile Nouguier, given its final appearance by architect Stephen Sauvestre and built by French engineer Alexandre Gustave Eiffel for the 1889 Universal Exhibition in Paris.
Standing 300 meters tall, later extended to 324 meters with an antenna, the Eiffel Tower was the tallest structure in the world for 41 years. Built in two years, two months, and five days by 250 workers, it was inaugurated on March 31, 1889.
Despite the constant effects of corrosion on its metal structure, the Eiffel Tower did not achieve truly massive and sustained success until the 1960s, with the development of international tourism. It now welcomes more than six million visitors each year.
