The Puerta del Sol (Sun Gate) of Toledo is in the Mudéjar style and was built to provide access to the walled city. It is a barbican gate, commemorative in nature, with a strong Nasrid influence. It dates from the last quarter of the 14th century. The entrance arch is a horseshoe arch framed by a pointed horseshoe arch. It is constructed of stone, ashlar, and masonry. The battlements, merlons, and frieze of the gate are made of brick. It features interlaced lobed arches.
