Art print from the Spain Series. Plaza de España in Seville

The Catholic Monarchs founded the House of Trade of the Indies, headquartered in Seville from 1503 to 1717. From there, voyages were directed and contracted, the wealth entering from America was controlled, and commercial, scientific, and judicial relations with the New World were regulated.
