The Fountain of Four, located in the center, is from the Baroque period. It was commissioned by the Pope to Gian Lorenzo Bernini, its construction was carried out between 1648 and 1651. It represents the four great rivers of the known world at that time, Nile, Ganges, Danube and Río de la Plata. The fountain is crowned by the obelisk of Domitian, which this emperor ordered to be built in Egypt.
