Assumption of Our Lady Parish Print, POZUELO DE ALARCÓN
Art print from the Spain Series. Parish of the Assumption in Pozuelo
At the end of the war, the old temple had resisted although with significant damage, among which stood out two immense holes in the head and in the nave, caused by the entry of shells. The new church is designed to resemble the old one but smaller in height and width. In 1941 the tower was rebuilt and a year later, the nave. A side chapel was also built where today the Virgin of Consolation is kept. To this chapel, two more chapels are added in the project for the sacristy and for the impartation of the sacrament of confession, which over time are unified. Currently, of the old building, only two attached granite pilasters supported by two bases remain, which support the first arch of the barrel vault of the nave.
