The cloister of the Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes, considered the most representative building of Toledo Gothic, was ordered to be built by the Catholic Monarchs under the direct patronage of the queen. It was completed in 1476 while the rest of the convent took a few more years. to be finalized. However, the architect had to modify his initial project by orders of Isabel la Católica who wanted the building to reflect the magnificence of her vote. It would therefore be around 1484 when we would find a second construction phase that would affect both the cloister. It is important to keep in mind that although in the end it was not like that, Isabel la Católica wanted San Juan de los Reyes to be her burial place and therefore it was especially demanding.
