Art print. Plaza del Pópulo in Baeza
One of Baeza's most beautiful and charming squares. At its center stands the Fountain of the Lions, an archaeological monument from the Roman city of Cástulo, crowned by a statue of Imilce, an Iberian princess and wife of Hannibal. This fountain symbolizes Baeza's pride in having become a noble and ecclesiastical center. For this reason, the tallest buildings of the time, such as La Antigua, the Civil Court, and the Public Notaries' offices, were concentrated in this square.
