Also noteworthy are the Episcopal Palace, the town hall (former Dominican convent), the castle that dominates the city and the most important Punic necropolis in the Mediterranean and its port, active since Phoenician times.
The medieval area of ​​“Dalt Vila” was fortified by Philip II to protect the city from attacks by Ottomans and pirates, since the triple defensive enclosure, of Arab origin, was not enough.
