It likely corresponds to the ancient foundation of San Pedro y San Pablo de Felgueras from the 7th century, its origins being Visigothic. The current structure was built in the 9th century, in the year 852, during the reign of Ramiro I, and is therefore classified as Ramirense, like the monuments of Naranco.
