The Colegio Mayor de San Ildefonso in Alcalá de Henares was founded in 1499 by Cardinal Cisneros as the origin of the historic University of Alcalá. It was closed as a university residence hall in September 1798. It currently houses the rectorate of the new University of Alcalá.
It is one of the most important works of the Spanish Renaissance and declared a World Heritage Site, along with the rest of the historic center of Alcalá de Henares.
