In the most famous square in Murcia stands the great façade of the Cathedral, 54 meters high and more than 20 sculptures.
The main façade, built between 1737 – 1751, is considered one of the most important of the Baroque.
Conceived as a façade-altarpiece by the Valencian architect and sculptor Jaime Bort y Meliá, it results in a harmonious ensemble that plays with volumes, perfectly uniting architecture and sculpture.
Like a great stone theater, the façade exalts the History of the universal Church and of the Diocese in particular.
