The Cathedral-Basilica of Santa Maria is the main religious building on the island of Mallorca. It is known as La Seu. It is a Levantine Gothic-style church built on the shore of the Bay of Palma. It overlooks the sea from atop the Roman and Renaissance walls that once protected the city, making it the only Gothic cathedral with this unique feature.
In 1931 it was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument. Furthermore, it boasts the largest rose window in the Gothic world, the largest original rose window of all European Gothic cathedrals.
