XL Print 50x50 The Courtyard of the Lions, GRANADA
Art print from the Spain Series. The Courtyard of the Lions of Granada
Perhaps the Court of the Lions is the best-known place in the Alhambra. Its name comes from the twelve lions that supply the fountain that occupies the center of the patio.
This white marble fountain is one of the most important examples of Muslim sculpture. Ordered to be built by Mohamed V, its plan is rectangular, and it is surrounded by a gallery like a Christian cloister, far from the style of the typical Andalusian Muslim patio.
It has white marble channels that start from inside the pavilions and under the gazebos, which converge into the central fountain in the shape of a cross. At the ends of the canals there are fountains that provide water to the central source.
